I made the corned beef (using Guinness) exactly as written and cooked it for 6 hours on the stove acme. I then removed the meat (which barbarous apart) and added 3 pounds quartered new potatoes, ii pounds baby carrots (cut in one-half) and an onion. I let that melt for 20 minutes and then added a head of cabbage. I cooked an additional 15 minutes. And then I removed the veggies and made a gravy out of the leftover stock using a slurry of stock and corn starch. This recipe was a huge hit last night for our St. Patrick's Day get together. Very authentic tasting and the peppercorns get soft as they cook, so when y'all bite into one, you get a dainty kick without being overly powerful or chipping your teeth. This will be our almanac tradition!

Wish in that location were more than 5 stars because this recipe deserves a ten. Married woman was in the infirmary and I was fending for myself when I tried this. Put 2 briskets in the crockpot and headed off to work. Stopped at the cafeteria and got some cole slaw and Swiss cheese on the way home from work, and ended up wishing I had cooked twice as much. Took a couple of BIG sandwiches to work the next day, and my coworkers forced me to share once they got a whiff. Kept asking the name of the deli where I bought information technology, and couldn't believe I made information technology myself. Well, here are your x stars from me and my office * * * * * * * * * *

This was so easy and delicious! I used both spice packets that came with the briskets and put everything into a tiresome cooker set on depression for 10 hours. The liquid remains reddish because of the nature of corned beefiness -- this does not mean information technology'due south non cooked. Information technology is done when it is fork-tender. I also poured the leftover cooking liquid into a pot on the stovetop and boiled cabbage in it; it gave the cabbage really adept season.

Wowee! Very very good. I threw everything in the crockpot before work, when I came habitation we had an awesome meal. I'chiliad thinking I'll never but eddy another slab of corned beef in water over again.

Was happily surprised past this recipe! It was very easy to perpare when you pop it all in the crock pot and only let it get all mean solar day. We concluded up cooking it nigh 10 hours, and it was so tender, like shooting fish in a barrel to shred for sandwiches. Not extremely salty, the way I usually think brisket tastes. Nosotros toasted the rolls, added swiss cheese and home made thousand isle dressing from this site--Delicious! Will definitely be going to this 1 a lot through the colder months particularly. Glad we did 2 briskets, cause one certainly would not have been enough. Thanks!

My husband likes to eat, but it is hard to become him to critiqe annihilation I make. I always get "its fine" or "its Ok". Well, this corned beef made him complain a few expletives while going "Oh my God! " Case closed, perfect recipie! *Hint: Used Dundees Honey blond beer, gave it a good flavor!*
03/eighteen/2008
Thriftynin--I'thou not certain why you reviewed my recipe when yous didn't brand my recipe! Leaving out the beer and peppercorns is eliminating a great deal of flavor, so I'm not surprised that y'all said information technology was lacking in flavour. If yous're worried about the alcohol, it cooks off and leaves backside the hops, yeast, etc. that give beer its flavor and these are imparted into the meat.
04/28/2007
I've made this twice now and followed the recipe to a "T". This is ane of the few things in life that I want to continue to eat long after I'1000 full. It is THAT practiced! We'll never have "patently ol'" corned beef in our house again.

Prepared it in the morning earlier work. Took about three minutes to throw everything in and turn it on. When I got abode that night, I realized I didn't accept whatsoever bread, so we used tortillas instead. Wrapped in tortillas tasted succulent. Used the remaining liquid to eddy some cabbage and carrots over the stove. That took an additional thirty minutes. Thanks for a delicious recipe!

This is the same recipe I have used for years BUT afterwards cooking I put it the refrigerator overnight. Just before serving I slice it (and it slices perfectly) and place it in a 13x9pan and cover it with one or ii cups of the reserved cooking liquid for 30 minutes. This merely warms it and information technology tastes just like the best New York deli meat.
09/twenty/2009
Wonderful recipe. My merely suggestion is to let the brisket cool completely before slicing. The cooler information technology is, the more information technology will piece nicely instead of shred. I usually cook it overnight, and so scrape the fat off in the morn, roll in foil to continue information technology moist, and put it in the refrigerator. Then, in the evening, you lot can slice it super thin. Too, strain and save the goop to cook cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. To dice for!!!

I won't give this anything less than five stars considering it was really tasty. I cooked it in a slow cooker for 9 hours total. I will definitely go the slow cooker fashion from at present on. It was much better. It fell apart and was really juicy. I took the beefiness out of the liquid and put it in a foil covered bowl, then poured the liquid into a large pot. I cooked red potatoes, baby carrots & half of a reddish onion for 15 mins in the liquid, then added a small head of cabbage (cut into wedges) for another 15. Afterwards I drained the veggies, I tossed them with a bunch of fresh parsley and ii T butter. But there's a bad: I've made corned beefiness without beer quite a few times and this time I decided to try it with a couple Guinness. What could be more flavorful than Guinness Stout? Well, I can tell you that it tasted nearly the same as when I brand it with just water and the aforementioned seasoning. I couldn't tell I used beer. Side by side time I'll drink the Guinness on information technology's own and but utilize h2o.

This is past far the best method of making corned beefiness I have ever used. I highly reccomend using the liquid left over to boil potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbage one the meat is removed. If you use a stout such every bit guiness you can brand a very unique and delicious gravy from some of the kiquid one the veggies are removed. I really put some of the liquid in a blender and toss in some carrots, onions, a few of the garlic cloves and some potato, then blend it into a slurry. And then merely pour it into a sauce pan add together some cornstarch/h2o mix and bring it to a boil. Information technology actually comes out quite phenomanal and is nothing anyone at your dinner tabular array will take tried earlier. Thanks for the excellent recipe!
03/18/2007
Fabricated this for my Irish gaelic mother who loves corned beefiness more than than any other meat. She was more than a little worried virtually the amount of garlic and peppercorns. Her worries were totally unfounded, I didn't change a thing and she is still raving about it.
09/24/2006
v stars aren't plenty for this recipe. Friends who own a DELI came to visit and cruel in love with this recipe. John asked for the recipe because he's going to try serving it at his store.
03/nineteen/2011
I took the advice of the well-nigh helpful reviewer (naples34102) and did mine in the crockpot on depression. Ten hours later on and I had the best corned beef I take ever had. I was so impressed that I rushed out the very next day and purchased 2 more briskets so that we could accept it over again soon. The beer scent is pretty strong in the first couple of hours merely it somewhen goes abroad so don't allow information technology scare yous off. No need to change a thing with this recipe.
02/08/2011
Very piece of cake and tasty. I was a little worried about "boiling" meat but, it was awesome. We had no left overs which is what I wanted so I could make sandwiches. Definately a keeper.
08/06/2009
I am Not a corned beefiness person, simply this recipe changed my opinion! I went from tasting corned beef peradventure one time a year on St. Patrick's Day to making this recipe once a month. I layer it with the "cola sauerkraut" recipe,(also on this website), a slice of swiss, and some Thousand Island dressing on some deli rye. Awesome, crawly, crawly! Can't say enough smashing things about this recipe....you actually have to try it to believe it!
03/xviii/2013
I halved the recipe and used the crock-pot on low for 12 hours. The meat was so juicy and flavorful, autumn apart tender...and then amazing that my married man said to run to the store and buy more corned beef while it is on sale. I don't think we'll ever eat corned beef any other way...and it was so easy. Made great sandwiches.
05/sixteen/2012
Are you kidding. Throw out all the other recipes for corned beefiness. This makes killer sandwiches. You dont need to drive to Canters in LA or whatever other place that claims to sell the " BEST " . This is the all-time. Don't go any farther. Scooter Steve Utah Why is there not 6 stars?
09/07/2010
This is an exceptional recipe that offers everything yous might want: ease of preparation and incredible outcome. I've used this recipe exclusively for nearly 3 years at present but never bothered to rate information technology until I pulled it up today to impress for nonetheless Another coworker who requested my "fabulous corned beef recipe". It really irked me to encounter the one star review by Jessica lament about a lack of seasoning because this recipe (and corned beef in general) is all about loads of seasoning and flavor! Did she use a plaing brisket instead of corned beef? She said she never made corned beef before and I wonder if she knew what to buy. I strongly urge her to endeavor the recipe over again and follow the directions exactly and she will have a meltingly tender piece of meat to exist proud of. If there werre more stars bachelor I would scored this much higher than just five.
03/20/2012
The reviews saying it'southward better to make this on the stove top rather than in a slow cooker are wrong. I make this every twelvemonth for St. Paddy's day, and every yr my invite list gets longer and longer considering more people want this corned beef. One year I made two briskets side by side, i on the stove elevation and i in the slow cooker. Every invitee said the tiresome cooker brisket turned out much, much better. Information technology fell apart, and tasted amazing. I follow this recipe to a "T," let it cook on depression for at least viii hours, and feed a dozen or so hungry friends. I use the left over liquid to quickly cook some cabbage on the stove top - and people tell me it'southward the best cabbage they've ever had. This recipe is hands-down a winner. I shared information technology with my mom and now it's the only one she uses. Give thanks you lot and so much for sharing!!!!!

I fabricated this recipe post-obit the directions equally given, calculation a ii large sliced onions along with the garlic cloves. I placed the spice packet contents into a square of cheese cloth, along with the quarter cup + of peppercorns and the bayleaves to form a garnet. I cooked the corn beefiness (on the stove)using Guiness, until it pierced easily with a fork (I institute cooking it longer, made it fall autonomously virtually 2 to ii 1/two hours) and we like it sliced rathered than pulled. After the meat was removed, I added potatoes, carrots and cooked til tender. Once the meat was cooled, I sliced thinly with an electric pocketknife. What was left, I stored in the refrigerator and made Reuben'due south using rye bread, Chiliad Island Dressing, and Claussen's sauerkraut with slices of Swiss cheese. Then grilled the sandwiches until bread was nice and toasty chocolate-brown! Two meals in one and then some! Crawly! Definitely will brand again and again!
09/14/2009
this is the best corned beefiness I have ever eaten.
03/18/2007
I prepared this for a festive St. Paddy'due south Day gathering last night, and not a speck left on the platter, and rave reviews! I prepared in the slow cooker, get-go ii hours on loftier, last half dozen or and so on low. I added about 2 1/2 bottles of Harp, and added tiny potatos, carrots and cabbage right into the mix. Perfect! Sincere cheers, I'll be making this many more times.
04/20/2006
My married man said that the corned beef was even ameliorate than in some of the delis in NYC!
12/13/2009
So succulent! I will never make corned beefiness any other fashion. Then ridiculously piece of cake too. I had about 5 minutes to spare before piece of work and I was somehow able to become this in the crockpot with everything and I still wasn't late for piece of work. This doesn't have to exist for sandwiches only, I plan on using the leftovers for Reuben Soup (also on Allrecipes.com)
07/27/2006
I idea this was only fabulous! I put it all in the crockpot on low all day. Got home from work shredded information technology served it on the kaiser rolls equally recommened with lots of red onions and spicy mustard! Oh yeah...fabricated the coleslaw also. Very practiced meal.
01/05/2009
This is the most tender corned beefiness I have ever had...and the taste united nations existent....I will make this over and over....Fantastic....Thanks for the recipe
03/xiv/2007
Agree with previous reviews that 5 stars aren't enough. Was leery about all that garlic, but decided to follow recipe exactly and so make modifications in the hereafter if it was "shut". Well, it hitting the bullseye!! Family raved, and I'm making a double batch for our St. Paddy'south get-together.
03/xvi/2010
This recipe is crawly! Had information technology this night for dinner and my BF loved information technology! The merely matter I change is this: take virtually 1/four cup of brown sugar and rub it onto the brisket before putting it into the beer/water. This helps infuse a deep, rustic, rich flavor to the meat. It doesn't make it sweet. Cooked it in my ho-hum cooker on depression for 8 hours, took it out and popped my potatoes, carrots, and cabbage in for most an hour/hr and a half. SO Adept!
12/13/2010
I volition agree that this is a tasty recipe. I followed the given recipe and everyone loved information technology. The reason I am rating this with only 3 stars is because of the taste of the leftovers. The garlic flavor was and so much stronger that information technology was unappealing. The texture of the meat was not appetizing. I always make more than I await to serve for dinner because the leftovers make such delicious sandwiches. Such is not the instance with this detail recipe.
03/17/2007
Delicious! I used ii bottles of Guiness beer and beef broth instead of water to embrace the brisket. It was perfect in exactly three hours. While the meat was setting, I used the stock to boil some Yukon gold potatoes, fresh kale and golden beets. I too made the "Irresistible Irish gaelic Soda Bread" and served that with the dinner. Absolutly perfect St. Patrick's Day repast! Don't forget extra Guiness to drink with dinner. I am freezing the remaining stock because the beer and garlic flavor was fantastic.
03/26/2012
v-star rating - for sure! I made this for our St. Patrick'southward meal, and we loved it. I made with 1 corn beefiness brisket and added potatoes and cabbage. The manager of the local liquor store helped me selection a beer (as I am NOT a beer drinker). He said the local chefs used 'Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale' to cook their briskets. I purchased 1 bottle and the flavor of the beer did not ruin the corn beef. You could slightly taste it, but it was not offensive in this recipe. This recipe was and so good that I went dorsum later the 17th and purchased some other brisket to have this recipe over again. Thanks SDK999 for sharing your recipe.
01/25/2006
Fantastic, I did the entire matter in my crock pot. I wouldn't change a thing.
03/31/2007
ive never really been a large fan on corn beefiness, ran across this recipe, read the reviews, then decided to requite a endeavor. i did not utilise the bay leaves or peppercorn, but i placed in slowcooker for about ten hours. used 24 ounze heiniken, i must say all day i was afraid that the beer was way tooo much merely when i start tried it i couldnt tell if i liked it, i kept picking like hmm hmmm, so the side by side day i fabricated sandwiches used cornbeef, provolone, topped with just enough thousand islands sauce. it was outta this earth. at present im going to be making every couple of months, cheers soo much for sharing :)
01/xi/2007
The best home-cooked corned beef I've always tasted. Made it for the OSU game and it was the best affair that happened that nighttime.
07/17/2014
My hubby has awarded this the BEST corned beef sandwich EVER and he has tried corned beef all over boondocks! What started every bit a trip to our local deli for a corned beef sandwich and found that they were closed turned into a trip to the grocery store and to this site. I am a newbie to corned beef and had NO thought where to starting time. This recipe was like shooting fish in a barrel and the best! My hubby thinks I slaved in the kitchen all day preparing this.....I am not certain I volition tell him otherwise :)
12/10/2007
PERFECT!!! I only Honey this recipe and so does my husband. I cook this all twenty-four hours on low in the crockpot and it comes out perfectly each and every time. This final time, I put information technology in the crockpot earlier bed and 10 hours later it was beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing. The seasoning is not bad and so is the beer. Thanks for this recipe postal service. This is my fifth time cooking corned beefiness this way, and I take no desire to brand it any other way. It is absolutely wonderful alone or on sandwiches and my husband just RAVES everytime I set this. Try it with some sweet coleslaw on sandwiches or alone served with fried cabbage!! Job well done, SDK999.
01/27/2006
This was excellent - I simply had ane corned beefiness, so I halved the recipe. The flavors were groovy - we only had enough meat left over for ane sandwich the next twenty-four hour period - I will definitely use 2 corned beefs next time!
02/21/2009
Very Good! I used a 2lb corn beefiness, ane spice package, an entire xvi oz of beer (my husband got carried away)cooked for 3.5 hours. Was delicious and flavorful. I thought my married man had ruined information technology using all that beer but he didn't. Just a note: Neither of united states like or drink beer.
eleven/xviii/2011
This is the Best Corned Beef recipe! Made every bit instructed and had the moistest, tenderest and flavorful corned beefiness. Stove pinnacle by far is better than a slowcooker for this cut of meat and the add-on of garlic was brilliant, it added even more awesome season. Utilise a brand of beer you like, it doesn't affair calorie-free or dark just as long as you similar it. Don't worry well-nigh trimming the corned beefiness either because after you cook information technology you lot can simply scrap away the excess fat without any endeavor at all.
01/29/2012
This is a fantastic recipe. I omit the water and put in a slow cooker for around 9 hours on low. Melts in your mouth. Perfect for corned beef sammies on rye.
06/14/2009
This recipe is easy and the results are wonderful. I brought these sandwiches to a party and they were gone in no fourth dimension at all. I considering putting 1000 isle dressing or mustard on the sandwiches, but after tasting the meat I decided against it. The corn beef was then tasty that any condiment would just have distracted from the great taste of the corned beef.
01/11/2007
I love corned beefiness just my family just thinks it's so-so. This recipes finally got united states of america all on the same page!!! I did everything exactly equally written and it was fantastic. We had the sandwiches this weekend and my kids were withal request for more on Monday. Next time I am going to make three briskets.
03/xviii/2013
I made this for St. Patrick's Twenty-four hour period and this was one of the almost succulent meals I take ever made! I, likewise, cooked it in my boring cooker on high for 8 hours and then added carrots and potatoes to the slow cooker after removing the meat. Very flavorful!
03/18/2014
I made this yesterday for St. Patty'south Twenty-four hours. I was a little nervous because I had never cooked corned beef before and I wanted to serve my family Reuben sandwiches. I followed the recipe to the tee and allow me tell yous it did non allow me downwardly. I cooked two(3)lbs corned beef briskets and I am proud to say there is admittedly NO left overs. This recipe is definitely a 10 in my book. DH asked me cease by the Grocer today to selection up some other corned beef while they are still on auction. Thank you for sharing this fabulous recipe
03/22/2009
Delicious & simple! My showtime attempt at corned beef & I'm glad I chose this recipe, tho' I did use the crockpot (1st hour on loftier). I used Guiness Actress Stout; it was worth the $one.50 for a canteen, as it added a distinct flavour. Halving the spice packet is a good idea if eating the beefiness fresh & warm. I used a whole pkt. for I 3 lb. point-cut; the taste of it & 1/2 seedling (smashed) garlic cloves was a lilliputian too potent while steaming hot. The adjacent day, tho', the flavor had mellowed & was perfect. It was likewise VERY piece of cake to slice thinly after refrigeration. I cooked the wedges of cabbage, onion, potato quarters, & carrot chunks in the flavorful liquid the last 2 hours. I besides thickened slightly almost three c. of cooking liquid with a slurry of well-nigh 2+ Tblsp. of cornstarch stirred with 2 Tbsp. water - delicious! No need to waste that flavorful liquid!
03/19/2013
I threw everything in a slow cooker and cooked on low for vi hours, then loftier for 2 hours. I did both packets of spices (non only 1) and served it on garlic toasted breadstuff with the juices in a dipping bowl on the side. It was absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be making this once again!
03/17/2014
It is true. Wait no further. Commencement fourth dimension ever and this corned beef turn out perfect. I used a crock pot and cooked on low for ix hours. AMAZING!
11/22/2006
My picky family unit (and I) just loved this. Made it on game twenty-four hours and the 3 briskets just disappeared. Thank you!
03/02/2007
And then piece of cake and delicious! Even my little ones wanted more than since it isn't as salty as store-bought corned beef. This ane will exist stored in my home cookbook where just the best recipes go!!
x/09/2014
All-time corned beef ever! Use all the ingredients as noted and merely put in a crock pot on low for 10 hours - perfect every time!
03/09/2013
I've been making this recipe for years..... it's absolutely the best and easiest way to make corned beef. My simply comment... use a total bodied beer, not lite. Y'all want the beer flavour. Guinness is great, but any medium to nighttime beer volition piece of work. I always double the recipe, it goes actually fast and I want some leftovers!
03/17/2008
This recipe is abolutely amazin. I left out the bay leaves (didn't accept them) used a whole head of garlic and a modest handfull of peppercorns along with the 2 bottles of Guiness and put all of this in the slow cooker on low for 10 hours. It was merely falling apart it was and then tender and the sense of taste was just amazing! I tin can't believe I used to just eddy corned beef in water. I and so took all the juices left in the dull cooker and put it into a pot on the stove and added the carrots and the potatoes and cabbage to it. I likewise had to add two cans of chicken broth (didn't accept beef broth) to make more liquid to embrace the veggies. They came out then flavorful they didn't fifty-fifty demand butter on them! Honest!! I will definately make this again and likewise tell everyone I know how to brand the about amazing corned beef they have ever had in their whole life!!
03/sixteen/2009
This was the best corned beef I take e'er had! Then tender. I cooked a 1.v pound brisket in my 2qt crockpot for 10 hours on low. The last xxx mins I added cabbage. I used Ultra Calorie-free beer since that is what I had on hand, and the flavour was to die for. I made this with the Like shooting fish in a barrel Irish Soda Bread and information technology was a big hit!
09/20/2009
Like shooting fish in a barrel recipe, corking results. I smoke the briskit for i or two hours before doing this recipe in the crockpot or dutch oven over very low heat. History gives differing accounts on corned beefs beginnings, but its well known as an Irish Dish, and also most jewish cafeteria'southward fix and serve this as well. Who really cares....Its great nutrient!!!!
03/12/2007
our local deli just lost customers for their corned beefiness sandwiches. This corned beef had a wonderful season and was so tender. Thanks for submitting
03/22/2013
This has been my tried and true recipe for several years and I made the mistake of trying the Braised Corned Beef Recipe for our family meal. BIG MISTAKE! I intend to quit experimenting and use this recipe from at present on. I have never had it turn out tough or tasteless like the baked version did, and my family was in rebellion. I am simply glad I bought extra corned beef while it was on auction and we were able to take the good stuff (this recipe) and I redeemed myself for the family unit. This recipe needs absolutely NO CHANGES! It comes out perfect every time whether I brand information technology just for sandwiches or use the broth to cook the vegetables and have a full corned beef dinner. Thank you thank you thank you lot!
03/xiv/2007
Have been testing recipes for large bash on Saint Patty's day. I don't take to go whatever further...it's the best!
05/05/2013
Amazing every time! I follow the recipe to the letter and comes out wonderful each and every time. Thanks for sharing!
06/25/2014
Used this for making Rueben's and it made the all-time Rueben's we e'er had. Cracking recipe!
03/24/2009
I used this recipe for Reuben sandwiches and made homemade Chiliad Island dressing and these were improve than whatsoever restaurant Reuben I've always had. Excellent and easy!
01/19/2008
Since I tin can't rate this more v stars I'll rate it hither. ********** x stars. I made this for New year's Day exactly as called for. Afterward I took out the corned beef I added carrots, red potatoes and cabbage and cooked for near an hour. It was VERY practiced. I fabricated leftover packets for work and it was fifty-fifty better the next several days. I gave some to my dad and he said he ate every speck. Thanks for a great recipe, I'm making it again today.
03/09/2009
I honey this recipe. Where I live, I have never seen a corned beef brisket with a spice parcel. I can't fit two corned beef briskets in my crockpot so I make i at a time, as written, without the spice packet and with four cloves of garlic rather than a whole bulb. I just permit the brisket melt the whole day on low, and the results are spectacular! I probably make this once a month. I make reubens out of information technology the first day, so make corned beef hash out of the leftovers. Can't say enough nearly how much nosotros enjoy this! Thank you a agglomeration!
06/23/2009
perfect! i can't wait to make information technology again! (and again, and again...)
03/fifteen/2009
Made this yesterday and it was sooo expert. Couldn't fit both briskets in my crock pot, and so I did one on the stove on medium-low (closer to low) rut for approx. v 1/2 hours, the other in the crock for nigh 10 hours. Used Guinness beer, a little water and some beef goop, two bay leaves in each, white and black peppercorns, divided a spice package between them and a bulb and one/ii of garlic, evenly divided. I did press a few of the cloves. I had never cooked corned beefiness earlier so I was a bit nervous, as we were taking this to a gathering of friends....well they both turned out neat, tender and so tasty. The ane from the crock pot was a little more tender, but merely barely. And so added quite a bit of the cooking juices to a pot of veggies (cherry-red potatoes, parsnips, turnips, baby carrots) along with some water.....later used the juices with chicken broth and butter for the cabbage. It was a not bad success....elementary Irish soda bread with Kerrygold Irish butter completed it beautifully.
03/17/2012
ths is first-class! i made these the day before st. paddy'due south day and followed the diections except lowering the cooking time to @ 6 hours on low in a slowcooker. i fabricated reubens with these with some rye breadstuff and seriously tweaked tater salad. i will non not make cornbeef any other way. only superb!
01/02/2008
I too wish we could requite more than than five stars. This was a BIG hit at my New Year'south party and I only wish I had doubled or even tripled it because it would of all disappeared. The person who said her cabbage turned out bitter might of added it at the get-go and caused the cabbage to melt as well long. That has happaned to me using other recipes and then I don't recall it's the mistake of this 1. Skillful food is my life!!!
05/05/2012
WOW! That's all I can say about this recipe. Super simple, and it is the Best corned beef recipe hands down. Followed the directions exactly, except I used most 6-eight cloves of garlic and not the whole seedling. There is no other recipe I will use on St. Patrick'due south Day ever once again!
07/16/2014
I rarely make corned beefiness considering they usually turn out tough or stringy, only a local store had brisket on sale for l% off, so I decided to try one more than time to cook one. After making this recipe, I sent my hubby to buy 3-4 more before the sale ends! The meat was tender and delicious! I used a canteen of Guinness Extra Stout and poured the spice pack into a cheesecloth handbag and added them to the crock pot with the brisket. I likewise roasted the whole bulb of garlic in the oven for approximately 30 mins before adding it to the crock pot and cooking it all for most 10 hours on Low. We loved the meat on ruebens concluding nighttime and I'grand sure we volition love the hash I brand with the leftover brisket in the forenoon! Cheers and then much for the wonderful recipe and restoring my faith in brisket fabricated at domicile!
06/02/2009
Excellent! I've fabricated this several times in the crock pot and too on the stove height. Garlic peeling tip: Soak separated cloves in h2o for about 1/ii hour and the skin peels off easily (snip the stem end off and skin down).

Have to agree with many reviewers that this deserves a lot more than but five stars. This is the tenderest and tastiest corned beef I have every eaten. My DH about swallowed his tongue when he took the first bite of his offset (of many) sandwich. Kudos to you SDK999

I took the liberty of changing the recipe only a footling, merely a few minor adjustments. No beer... I put a 4 pound brisket into a slow cooker that is similar in shape to a small roaster. I put the fatty side up and added the season bundle to the fat and rubbed/patted it on. I and then added the water (approx 1 gallon) so the beef was covered simply the fat was not submerged. I added iii small bay leaves, 1/8 cups pepper corns, 4 crushed/minced garlic cloves and a table spoon of beefiness bullion and Cajun spices to the fat. Set the cooker on low (175 degrees) and cooked for 24 hours (covered). I didn't add any additional h2o after the cooking process began. When removed from the slow cooker and used a butter knife to remove the fatty, so I allow it cool for well-nigh an hour. (cool enough to handle) I have a deli slicer... I cut the brisket in half and then that I have I good surface for the slicing machine. I started the slicing process and it was so tender it only barbarous apart. It ended upward looking more than like pulled pork than dejeuner meat. Serving: Lightly browned so hearty rye in a skillet with unsalted butter. Spread horseradish sauce to the bottom piece, add some provolone cheese, and so stack the meat, add together sauerkraut, then 1000 island dressing, and so your elevation slice of rye. This was the all-time Ruben ever...

This is a great recipe. I oasis't cooked corned beefiness in xv years, much to my Irish husband's dismay. Yous demand to buy the better cutting of corned beefiness. I started with iv lbs and I rinsed it off, and threw away the spice parcel that came with it. Put information technology in my large crockpot with a can of cheap Budweiser, a bay leaf, a heaping tablespoon of chopped garlic, and 1/iv cup of peppercorns pretty much every bit instructed. Cooked on high till information technology started simmering, thn put on low. Turned the meat over periodically....probably for viii hrs or so. Added cutting upwardly onions, carrots and potatoes. After 45 min added some cabbage. Concluded upward having to transfer to oven to complete cooking ...my error. One time everything was cooked, Transferred all the goodies to some other dish to go on warm and followed another reviewer'south recommendation and made some gravy with the juices, adding actress water and a mix of water and corn starch. The only matter I'd practice differently next time is to put the peppercorns in a couple of sections of cheesecloth. They add together great flavor but I don't like eating them. Think I'll be doing this recipe again this calendar week for the real St. Paddy'southward Day!!

I made this tonite and it was a smash hit. Words cannot express just how yummy information technology was. The only thing that I added was a half more than bulb of garlic (the bulbs were small), and since I made 8 lbs in a roaster oven, I added a regular size can of beef goop to make sure I had enough liquid. Information technology was then good and it melted in our mouths! The seasonings and beer were perfect in this recipe. I sliced up the brisket and fabricated some hearty reuben sandwiches.Thank you and so much for sharing this recipe! I had saved it for future utilise.

There is just ii of united states of america, and then merely fabricated one corned beef, just did use full amount of all other ingredients (beer, garlic etc) slow cooked in a crock pot for virtually 9 hours and it turned out perfect. I did have leftovers (which seems like an anomaly with this recipe) and they reheat to be just as good as they original, but recall to add some of the sauce to store the meat it and it seems to soak upwards even more season!

The kickoff night I fabricated potatoes, cabbage and carrots in the goop and served information technology with the hot corned beefiness. I wasn't crazy about the vegetables done this manner. The next nighttime I made corned beef hash with poached eggs on superlative and information technology was first-class. Finally, nosotros finished upwardly with sandwiches of corned beef, cole slaw and Russian dressing on rye. I did them panini fashion and they were Then good. This recipe rates more than 5 stars.I cooked a 3.7 lb of flat brisket in my ho-hum cooker from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm on low and used 2 cans of Alpine beer plus ii cups of water to cover it with about an inch to a higher place the meat. I added the peppercorns, garlic plus the spice packet. I permit the meat sit for about 20 mins before slicing and information technology was wonderful. I strained some of the liquid into my dutch oven and used it to melt my vegetablse. I used modest red potatoes unpeeled, baby carrots and after nearly 15 mins of these cooking I added my cabbage which was cut into wedges. My family who were here for dinner agreed it was the all-time corned beef dinner they have ever had. Thanks once again All Recipes for another " favorite ".

This is my go-to recipe for St. Paddy's Day and is always a oversupply pleaser. I highly recommend using Guinness (cans are highly preferred to bottles b/c of the widget inside that keeps it well mixed - 1 can per iii lb. brisket), and also recommend tripling the corporeality of garlic per brisket - information technology actually helps with the overall flavor. I also cook in the crockpot for virtually 8 to 10 hours over depression heat. Serve with a really great rye bread (Oroweat has a really nice Dill Rye) that pairs well to bring out the flavors. So easy to do - just make sure y'all buy a practiced quality brisket :)
